The Regional Performance Centre (RPC) Dundee was proud to host an inspiring and energising event on Sunday 10th May in partnership with local community group Strong Girls Club, as over 40 women of all ages came together to take part in a HYROX-style fitness showcase.
Held across the centre’s unique indoor Active 9BX area and the outdoor 400m athletics track, the event was held as an introduction to HYROX for beginner level participants with a fantastic opportunity to experience the challenge and excitement of a HYROX mini simulation in a supportive and inclusive environment. Designed to promote women in sport, the day celebrated strength, resilience, and community, with participants pushing themselves through a series of demanding but rewarding activities.
Athletes experienced all eight HYROX stations, including Sled Push and Pull, Farmers Carry, Wall Balls, Ski Erg, Rowing, Burpees, and Lunges, each interspersed with gruelling runs on the track. The format was a mini HYROX structure and allowed participants to test both their physical and mental endurance while building confidence and encouraging one another throughout the course.
The event atmosphere was positive, welcoming, and empowering, with participants of varying fitness levels coming together to challenge themselves and support one another. It highlighted the growing appeal of functional fitness events and the value of creating accessible opportunities for women to engage in structured sport and exercise.
To complement the physical challenge, the day also featured a range of healthy snacks and educational and nutritional resources, local company Fit Pots and Shots provided smoothies for the participants and supplemented it with valuable insights into fuelling performance and supporting overall wellbeing.
Events such as this demonstrate the RPC’s ongoing commitment to supporting community partnerships and promoting active lifestyles across Dundee. Working alongside groups like Strong Girls Club continues to play a key role in encouraging wider participation in sport, particularly among women and girls, and showcasing the excellent facilities available at the Regional Performance Centre.
